Are you worried about security - Episode 01

You should be.  Forget homeland security and other physical manifestations of the illusion of security.  The real threat is the ineptitude of the automated systems that we take for granted on a daily basis.

This is the first in a series of videos I am going to post that I hope will open your eyes to the real threat: Inept software developers and the organizations that trust them implicitly.

In this video, recorded at the 16th DEFCON convention,  Felix Lindner, Head of Recurity Labs, describes the weaknesses of bar-codes   It starts slow, but as things move along, you will see some rather glaring, and frightening, potential problems.

Do not fear the hackers that discover these things. They are just pointing out problems that need to be fixed.  Rather, fear those that would do us harm should they discover the same problems that should not exist in the first place.

If you'd rather not see the non-scary stuff, skip ahead to about 25 minutes in.   It starts to get really interesting at that point.
